THE STRING THEORY: A PHYSICAL TRACE OF THE PSYCHIC WORLD

The String Theory, in physics offers a physical explanation for the paranormal events in the movie "The Sixth Sense." String theory postulates extra dimensions in which spirits can transit and spiritual entities can reside. The theory offers a vehicle for communication and visual information to be transmitted. Psychometry and telekinesis can also be explained by properties of the String Theory. Just as physicists may look to philosophy for comparative notations of their findings, today's researchers of the psychic realm may find themselves delving into the domain of theoretical physics for answers to the how's and why's of the paranormal and psychical experience.

Throughout history and across all cultures, stories have been told about the visitation of ghosts and of our interactions with them. Scenes portrayed in the movie "The Sixth Sense" have been written about and acted out many times over. To prove scientifically that events like those in the movie actually occur has been fleeting, if almost impossible. Science calls for certain measurable standards as proof of existence. From these standards the psychic/mystical world has remained estranged.

Like the story of the man who lost his keys in the bushes yet looked under the streetlamp, explaining "The light is much better here," it appears today's scientists will not accept the 'psychic' experience as part of their universe until they have the technology to validate these experiences. A good example is DNA. Although it's obvious that it has been here all along, the scientific community could not cry out, "Eureka!", until it had the technology to find it. This is why scientific discoveries that could explain the - paranormal are still languishing in the dark. That darkness may soon be abating though, as there may be a light at the end of this presentation.

That light is emanating from a branch of theoretical physics, which is offering a basis for the metaphysical experience and beyond. Referred to as the "String Theory" or the theory of everything, the theory proposes that we are surrounded by, made up of, and totally immersed in a universe of vibrating strings, complete with extra dimensions and parallel universes! First let me admit that I am not a theoretical physicist. The proposals I have to offer here are deduced from personal experiences I've had in life as a psychic in search of reality. As we are participants in the same universe that includes the string theory's elements, it seems appropriate to use our e0erienceS for testimonials to our reality. This perspective, along with the best understanding I can gather about the string theory and its developing components, is the basis for my presentation.

The string theory proposes that everything in our universe, all forces and all matter, is composed of massless, weightless vibrating strands of energy. These strings are smaller than the smallest of known particles approximately a hundred billion, billion times smaller than an atomic nucleus. These string energies are also available in theoretically large membrane forms as well. The proposed properties of these vibrating strands may provide a physical explanation for many psychic events. The theory offers the possibility for vibrating forms of energy to transit from our realm to other planes of existence. Currently the search is on for the elusive "graviton," a particle that may be seen leaving the scene of a smashed atom by escaping into another dimension. Similar to the DNA story, when scientists can prove that the graviton indeed leaves our known world, other dimensions will be accepted as existing, not until then.

Since one of the main premises of the movie is the existence of unseen forces and dimensions, let's see how the string theory with its string energies could offer a vehicle for these to occur. For an example of an unseen force, here's an experiment you can do at home. For this you will need a pair of metal divining rods. You can purchase them at your local divining rod store or make a pair out of two wire coat hangers. They should be "L” shaped, with the short section about seven inches and the long section about sixteen inches. Take the rods, holding the short side in each hand, like holding a gun handle, and point them at your test subject. Then walk towards your subject. The rods should move, splaying outward as you get closer to your accomplice. In some cases, you can ask your test subject to "project" their energies outward and make the rods move from a much farther distance. What you may be witnessing are string energies at work. For a demonstration of an unseen dimension, pin the rods down on a table. Just lying there they "move" through an unseen dimension, time.

We all are aware of the four dimensions in which we reside. Three dimensions of space are visible; but the dimension of time is unperceivable. In the movie, Cole is experiencing dimensions beyond the familiar four: Malcolm has taken up residence in another dimension entirely. Still, each is able to connect via a trans-dimensional portal. How is this possible?

In order for something like this to happen, more than four dimensions are required. The string theory gives US those extra dimensions. The theory has proposed these extra dimensions could be “curled up” alongside each and every point of our universe. In some cases, the theory portends that some strings may expand into more of a membrane type shape offering a realm that coexist alongside the dimensions we are normally aware of. Extra dimensions are needed for the psychic experiences offered in the movie Another dimension, just outside our own, could provide a place for Malcolm’ s energies to reside. These extra dimensional loops could act as the portals for Malcom’s and Cole’s energies to travel through. It may also be possible that the much larger membrane form may be a penetrable wall, a barrier that our vibrating string energies might seep through.

Extra dimensions are an essential part of both the string theory and the psychic experience. In the hunt for extra dimensions, physicists are watching the elusive graviton. For proof in the psychic world, other dimensions may be found guilty of existence in "absentia”, as they currently appear through their unmeasurable influence upon the psychic and mystical experience. Needless to say, without extra dimensions, we would landlocked in one reality, unable to have the experiences portrayed in the movie, as well as experiences familiar to most of us.

In the movie there appears to be both visual and verbal communication between Malcolm and Cole. How can this happen in a world that depends on physical sight and sound for communication? Why was Cole’s seeing those poor folks 'hanging’ around at the top of the stairs? And why was Cole's dog hiding in the laundry basket all the time?

String theory may offer an explanation of the physical means for these sightings and communications. The theory postulates that our universe is structured in a way that allows these vibrating strands to travel from one realm to another. Energy strands could provide the physical ability for verbal and visual communication. Ghostly information transmitted in the form of vibrating strings could be what is recognized or 'picked up' by those in our community known as psychics as well as by young children and sometimes the family pet.

If you've had or if you know someone who's had a ghostly encounter, I would imagine that it was nowhere near as comprehensive as the one presented in the movie. As only Hollywood can achieve, in the movie the dramatizations of psychic events possess impossible clarity, timing and resolve.

I have to say that I've run across a few ghosts over the years. One encounter involved Steve, a childhood friend who had died in a sudden and violent car crash. He showed it one night during my lesson in how to read coffee grounds. My instructor, Luis Tejeda, unexpectedly became possessed by my deceased friend's uneasy spirit, acting out the rough and tumble mannerisms that had personified him. When it came to conversation, there was really very little to say. Current events didn't matter. He's dead! We did receive one piece of information about a ring on one of his fingers. Steve’s spirit had clearly communicated one other thing: He Wanted to be alive. This carnal desire was acted out by Luis literally pawing at the wooden tabletop. At this point, being a bit rattled, we set out to disperse his energy with prayer and calm our own spirits with liberal amounts of Caribbean rum.

Several months later I ran across his older brother Tim, I told Tim that I had seen his brother at Luis’s and went on to describe the encounter. He had the standard nonbeliever response until I mentioned the ring. When told the story of the ring, Tim turned white as a ghost and walked away from me into another room. After some tune had passed, he finally spoke and said to me that he had placed his own ring on his dead brother's right hand, just before the casket was closed. This was something that no one else knew but him but him.

Steve showed up several other times at my brother's house, one of the last places he felt 'at home'. On the porch one evening the dog started barking, barking at nothing. It stood like a pointer, staring and barking at what was the thinnest of air. Then came a sound, a ghostly gasping of breath. I now understand why Cole's dog spent much of its time in the laundry basket. I would have too.

One other encounter involved a group of Native Americans. It reminded me of Cole’s glimpses of that hanging family of long ago. These natives were quietly observing the passing world from a suburban lawn on horseback. It was at an intersection early one evening that I first caught the image of the ghostly figures. My very psychic wife saw them too. We did not mention it to each other for some time, but finally the silence was broken with; "Did you see what I saw?” Each confirming the sighting, we went on to notice them several more times. Later we learned that the area was well known by these apparitions because of the ample water, vegetation and good hunting. These natives were showing themselves as they appeared more than 150 years ago. Staring toward an intersection with its passing cars and trucks, one could only conclude that they must have been wondering "what has happened to the neighborhood?"

Throughout the movie the element of time shows its flexibility. Malcolm's personal time reference was stopped at the point of his untimely departure. Meanwhile, he was still able be to keep pace with his wife, Cole and others in the movie. The parameters and definitions for time itself haven't changed by the introduction of the string theory. As Einstein proclaimed, time is relative. The faster an object is traveling through our three spatial dimensions, the more it forfeits its rights to exist in our normal dimension of time.

Vibrating strings may bridge the shifting dimension of time as they are in their own timeless domain. Because Malcolm is "dimensionally challenged" so to speak, he has changed his velocity ratio through the space-tithe continuum. That loss of the three spatial dimensions presents a gain that could propel his essence or 'soul' in the form of string energy to at or near light speed, where nine has little or no measure.

It seems that time is a pathway to and from the past and the future. Time in the paranormal world shows that flexibility. In a time-flexible realm, one can travel ahead in time and often return with the result: This is known as prophecy in religious contexts, and "precognition" in moral secular circumstances. With time redefined as a pliable dimension, it makes it possible for vibrations originating from another time and space to reach us and vice versa. Events locked up in string energy, which happened many years ago, may be as accessible today as when they were occurring.

Psychic readers sometimes bridge the dimension of time. Receiving knowledge of future events from a card reading is a good example. While in my bachelor days at college, I became interested in a female student a reader saw in the cards that I would meet up with her at a party. There was one problem. I had no invitations. Several days passed by when an old friend of my brother's recognized me and pulled over to talk. The first thing he did was to invite me to a party, the party in which I met the girl. The span of time that separated the party and the reading had been bridged.

Dreams are often prophetic or precognitive, giving insights of future events. I have had several dreams that have shown prophetic results, most notably the death of my mother. Early one spring I had a dream in which I saw my Mother on the roof of the house slipping to the edge, nearly falling off. I made it up to the roof to grab her; when got there, she had already fallen to the goad where she was accompanied by a pair of white dogs. She was in good health that spring. The next fall she passed away.

During one scene in the movie, we see that nearly all the kitchen cabinets and drawers have been opened or pulled out apparently without the help of Cole, much to his mother's chagrin. As puzzling as it may be to watch something move without an apparent catalyst, the string theory may hold an explanation. According to the theory strings are full of energy. Aspects of the theory allow for strings to penetrate what we see as a solid object. Since these strands are composed of energy, that energy could be inherited by the object it enters. Energy is what it takes to make things move. If we are engulfed in a sea of vibrating energies, those energies could provide the fuel for telekinetic events. Is it possible these energy strands could be injected into any inanimate object, infusing its energy and creating movement? The old descriptive terms 'will power' and 'mind over matter' may be describing string energies at Work.

I have to say that I do not remember having any cabinets fly open or drawers pop out in my kitchen. The demonstration in the movie is a bit "Hollywoodish" (if I may use such a word), but such stories of objects moving on their own have been recalled in many psychic experiences.

I did feel that proverbial "Ill Wind" once. It was at a farmhouse that my friend Steve was going to move into right before he died. One night I was helping him fix up the place so he could move in. Taking a break, I went out on the front porch. It was a late summer evening, and the air was still when coming out of nowhere a dry somber breeze brushed up against me and faded into the night. I did not know the significance of the event until that period climaxed with Steve's death. Maybe I experienced a mass of string energy possibly a brush with a membrane produced energy wave; but whatever it was, it had no obvious 'physical' reason to exist.

In the scene in which Malcolm's wife is selling the ring, the prospects of resonate information emanating from the ring is mentioned. She says, "I think maybe when people own things, then they pass away, part of themselves gets printed on those things like fingerprints."

String theory offers the best physical explanation for what is known as psychometry occur. If indeed everything is composed of vibrating strands of energy, strands that have no mass, these same strands, in theory, can simultaneously share the same space inside objects to which they are normally foreign. Psychometry, as it is known has been recognized and practiced by many. Often it is used by psychics to gain insight and information about an event, or a person associated with an object. String theory has presented a practical answer to how and why such information could be locked up inside an object. It is possible that: as humans we send forth an armada of energy packed vibrations throughout our life. Energies as witnessed in the divining rod demonstration. We may constantly infusing vibrational energies into the objects that surround us. Together these weightless massless strings, acting as energy markers for memories, could easily find a niche inside the mass of any object, leaving a deposit of information that in a way broadcast its life story.

Many of us have 'felt' a particular vibe when holding an object belonging to another. My wife tells a story of once holding a set of keys that belonged to a man that was in the midst of a divorce. She asks the fellow, "What happened to the missing key?” to which he responded with a blank stare. It was later that she found out he had hidden his prize fishing boat along with its key, from his estranged wife, in hope of keeping it out if the divorce settlement.

The evidence for the reincarnation of the Dali Lama is perhaps the best example that one's energies may remain within personal objects. It is said that when the monks are sent out to find their newly incarnated Buddha of Compassion, they carry personal items that only he would recognize. Even though similar objects are presented to the candidates, the identification of the reincarnated Dali Lama is made by his choosing only those which were his in the previous life. If these objects hold the resonance of his vibrations in his previous lifetime, it would seem logical that he chose the correct items by recognizing the different vibrational quality of the items over any other characteristics they possess.

Oddly enough, among all the different scenes in the movie there was only one set of numbers shown. Those numbers were found at Cole's home address which was 2302. The location chosen for Cole's house was not picked for numerical purposes, but it serves them anyway. Numerically speaking the address breaks down like this. First is the #23. It can represent a separation or divorce. The #30, in the center deals with the spiritual world; that is the #3 represents the spiritual, (the trinity) and the #0 adds a nonexistent space. Finally, we see #302 or an expanded #32. The #32 represents "bringing together," the opposite of the #23. The address numerically reads: Divorce from the physical into the spiritual plane, then brought back to the physical through a spiritual connection. It's another way to describe what young Cole would be experiencing in it house with that numerical address.

The string theory proposes that everything, in its core, is vibrating at a certain rate. It seems apparent that the basis for Pythagorean numerology coincides with the premise set forth by the siring theory. Pythagoras sought out to confirm, via mathematics, the vibrational structure of the universe long before the string theory; Numerology maybe a second cousin to the string theory as they could share in presenting evidence of our resonating existence.

When describing "The Music of the Heavens", Pythagoras was possibly offering the first glimpse of the string theory in action. If the cosmos is full of vibrating strands of energy, it could be producing a resonance that may be audible to our psychic or spiritual hearing.

Pythagorean numerology is based upon everything in the universe having a distinctive vibratory rate. The vibrational qualities of the numbers reveal themselves every day. For instance, the number 38 represents "gossip and the criticism of colleagues." Vanessa Williams was forced to resign on her 308th day as Miss America after it was revealed she had posed for some provocative photos. You may also remember the recent 38th annual Super Bowl and the criticism that followed the halftime show. The number 77 represents the vibration of "things that are not as they appear to be." Baseball stay Sammy Sosa was embarrassed to find himself in a major league game with a corked bat. He had a total inventory of 77 bats and when the corked one broke, it distinguished itself as the by virtue of the remaining 76.

Everything has an assigned vibratory rate in numerology. Now science is presenting theoretical support for this view.

As for the music of the heavens, I may have heard it myself in a dream one evening. My wife and I rescued a dog left abandoned on an old county road. He had been used fighting and was left for dead, but we brought him home and nursed him back to health. He couldn't have been a better companion. He was all skin and bones when we found him, so called him Mr. Maroni after the old 50's hit song "Boney Maroni. Mr. Maroni and I would go for long walks man old farm pasture that had become a city park. He was thoroughly enjoying his golden years when he paused away. Due to the close bond, we had, it was no surprise that I had a dream about him the following morning. In the dream he was in the pasture running and having a wonderful time. One thing I found interesting about the dream was the sound was emanating from the bank of trees that lined the far end of the park. It was as though a thousand symphony orchestras were tuning up at the same time. It seemed to have layer up layer of harmony combining into a sea of sound, a melody of cosmic proportions. I will never forget that sound or the dog.

Experiences of the paranormal may have a physical platform for existence offered in physics by the string theory. The string theory offers the needed vehicle, means of transportation at dimensions that are required for the incidents as seen in "The Sixth Sense" to occur.

As studies progress, scientists and psychics may find themselves meeting along the path enlightenment. A path that allows the two studies to aid and assist in discovering the true nature of our reality in the universe where we reside. The reality we all share is much more than what meets the eye. One day our collective eyes may be opened to the truths many philosophers and mystics have proposed all along: The truths that everything in our grand universe shares a cosmic connection that can bridge time, space and even other dimensions.

For more information on string theory, I would recommend two books titled, “The Elegant Universe” and “The Fabric of the Cosmos”, both by Brian Green.
